Ergomat Quarterly Update

After a difficult 2009, we had the pleasure of starting out 2010 with one of the best first quarter in our company’s history, and especially our North American divisions; are extremely busy these days!

Worldwide Projects:

In this past quarter, we have had the pleasure to work on some very interesting projects for some of the most prominent companies in the world.

Here are some projects especially worth mentioning:

  • FedEx: DuraStripe Lean project for Lean optimization at one of the largest hanger facilities located in Memphis. Custom signage and striping layouts designed and in which in turn has become a Lean show case facility for FEDEX.
  • We created and produced over 1000 custom signs for Medtronic’s lean program in Puerto Rico.
  • KIA: We installed in excess of 20.000 square feet of matting at KIA’s West Point Georgia facility, their first automotive plant built outside Korea.
  • Honda: We finalized a major matting project for Honda Marysville Weld line (10.000 square feet) as well as the Engine Line in Canada. Several interesting matting projects are in the works for Honda Transmission, Honda East Liberty and the Alabama plant.
  • Limited: We installed 25.000 square feet of matting for Limited (Victoria Secret) 2nd distribution center in Columbus. We will focus our efforts on the 3rd distribution centre of the same size this coming September.
  • We have been chosen to install more than 10.000 feet of DuraStripe Walkways at Chrysler in Detroit. A great new product concept that has initiated significant interest! Several Toyota Motor Sales Distribution Centre and one of AVON distribution center have decided to implement the same program with our custom walkway product!
New Products:
Furthermore, our product line continues to evolve tremendously!
  • DuraStripe, DuraStripe shapes, corners and signage sales have increased as more and more companies focus on Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Infinity/Extreme mat: We introduced the first ergonomic mat in the world with 12 years warranty and up to a life time warranty in retail applications.
  • DuraStripe Walkways: This new product is unique on the market place!
Changes within the organization:
In the 1st quarter we have had several changes within our organization, from customer service to management, to better service our clients worldwide.
  • We have intensified our French presence as well as added Spanish, Italian, Japanese and Greek speaking staff to our customer service department.
  • We have also implemented a global service concept for both matting and DuraStripe to enable turnkey solutions for large projects

Of course, the biggest change within the organization was the promotion of Mr. Claus Lendal to CEO-President of Ergomat Worldwide.  Beyond overseeing all Ergomat divisions, Mr. Lendal is also responsible for all sales and marketing activities globally. For the past 10 years Mr. Lendal was responsible for the North and South American divisions. His dynamic and hands-on approach to the market made him the perfect choice for Ergomat Worldwide.

Ergomat as a group will have a new focus towards increased innovation and an emphasis on sales rather than production.

Environmental responsibility is also very high on Mr. Lendal’s agenda. With this new vision, Mr. Lendal and his team want to ensure that Ergomat not only remains the world’s leading provider of ergonomic matting and striping solutions but also strive to lead in a "greener way’" when it comes to long term, safe environmental solutions for products and of course our clients.
